The initiative begins with the development of Ayodhya City as a model solar city under the solar city program. Subsequently, seventeen Municipal Corporations, including cities such as Ghaziabad, Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Firozabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Shahjahanpur, Varanasi, and Mathura/Vrindavan, along with Noida City, will also be transformed into solar cities under this program.
The Uttar Pradesh Solar Cities Portal, supported by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) and Vasudha Foundation, serves as a valuable platform for residents in solar cities. Its primary objective is to enable residents to assess the feasibility of installing grid-connected solar systems on their rooftops.
